macOS Tahoe, Apple's latest operating system for Macs, is launching on Monday, September 15, but it's important to know that macOS Tahoe drops support for a handful of Mac models compared to the previous macOS Sequoia.

macOS Tahoe 26 Feature
macOS Tahoe is compatible with the following Mac models, according to Apple:

  • MacBook Air with Apple silicon (2020 and later)

If your Mac doesn't appear in the first list, macOS Tahoe does not officially support it and the software upgrade will not appear in Settings ➝ General ➝ Software Update when it becomes available in the fall.

If your Mac is supported, macOS Tahoe will bring a fresh "Liquid Glass" design to your machine, with translucent menus, tinted folders/icons, and a sleek Dock – plus tighter Continuity with a native Phone app, Live Activities, and AI-powered Spotlight for system/in‑app commands. Apple Intelligence enhances translation, Shortcuts, Genmoji, and Notes. macOS Tahoe also introduces a dedicated Games app and gets a Metal 4 boost.
