Financial Times reports a rumor that Motorola may be selling their semiconductor business to STMicro:

    STMicroelectronics, Europe's largest semiconductor company, is in talks to buyMotorola's semiconductor operations in a deal that would create the world's second largest chip manufacturer afterIntel of the US.

If it went through, the sale could take place as early as next year.
