Apple's M1 iMacs Get Massive Discounts Via Expercom on Amazon, Get Up to $651 Off

Apple's previous generation 24-inch M1 iMacs have received steep discounts this week on Amazon, including up to $651 off select models. These deals are being offered by Expercom via their Amazon storefront.

Starting with the 8-Core GPU/256GB M1 iMac, Amazon has this model for $898.98 in Blue, which is down from the original price of $1,499.00. This is a new all-time low price on the M1 iMac.

Amazon also has the 8-Core GPU/512GB M1 iMac on sale for $1,048.97, down from $1,699.00. This is another new record low price, and it's available in Blue, Pink, and Green.

Apple's M1 iMac is about three years old at this point, and it was replaced with the 24-inch M3 iMac late last year. Despite its age, this is still an Apple silicon-based machine with plenty of internal power to support your average day-to-day usage and some more basic workflows.

Personally, if I was in the market and looking at this, I'd rather get an Apple Refurb 2023 iMac with M3 chip (8-core CPU, 8-core GPU), 8GB memory, 256GB storage for $200 more vs this 2021 iMac with M1 chip (8-core CPU, 8-core GPU), 8GB memory, 256GB storage at $898.98.

I wish I had a use for one of these.

Part of me wishes Apple had kept up with "Front Row" software so that I could use one of these in the kitchen instead of a TV.

Looks like a very good deal for two 8GB M1 iMac models, but I got the 24GB M3 iMac with 1TB SSD, so I am happy. Hope Apple will bump up the 8GB base RAM on all models soon.

If only iMac can be used headless. $900 for 24-inch 4.5K screen + keyboard + mouse would make a very nice deal.

AirPlay 2 is not a suitable substitute for direct connection.

* The available resolutions are 720p, 1080p, 1440p, or 2160p/4K. iMac will upscale them to 4.5K, with varying sharpness.
* MacBooks will switch from 16x10 (1.6:1) to 16x9 (1.78:1) aspect ratio.
* HiDPI retina scaling is limited to 720p or 1080p.
* Latency (about 50 ms.).
* While it supports 60 frames per second, it is often choppy.

This is an increasingly old-fashioned sounding opinion, but there is no suitable substitute for a direct connection. Wired is always going to (have the potential to be) better in every way except the wire.

Better to use the improved Screen Sharing or VNC from another device if you want to run headless.
