iPhone 17 Pro Rumored to Feature Biggest Camera Redesign in Six Years

In 2019, the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max became the first iPhones with three rear cameras. But while the lenses have increased in size on subsequent iPhone models, the overall design of the rear camera system has not significantly changed.

That could finally change with the iPhone 17 Pro models next year.

The Information this week reported that the iPhone 17 Pro models will have a "larger rectangular camera bump" made out of aluminum rather than glass.

Here is what the report said:

The back of the Pro and Pro Max models will feature a new part-aluminum, part-glass design. The top of the back will comprise a larger rectangular camera bump made of aluminum rather than traditional 3D glass. The bottom half will remain glass to accommodate wireless charging, two people said.

Apple should release the iPhone 17 series in September 2025. By that point, the iPhone 17 Pro models would be the first Pro models without a square camera bump in the top-left corner of the devices in six years. Overall, it sounds like the backs of the iPhone 17 Pro models will look quite different compared to previous models.

Other rumored features for the iPhone 17 Pro models include an increased 12GB of RAM, a 48-megapixel Telephoto camera, and a 24-megapixel front camera.
