Apple today unveiled the iPhone 16e, with key features including an A18 chip, Apple Intelligence support, and Apple's custom-designed C1 modem for 5G.
There are also many smaller details about the iPhone 16e that you might have missed, including the eight things outlined below.
- The iPhone 16e lacks support for MagSafe wireless charging and accessories.
- While the iPhone 16e has an A18 chip, it has only a 4-core GPU, whereas the A18 chip in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus has a 5-core GPU.
- iPhone 16e starts with 128GB of storage, whereas the iPhone SE that it replaced started with 64GB of storage.
- Despite the iPhone 16e lacking a Camera Control button, it supports Visual Intelligence via the Action button.
- With no Ultra Wideband chip, the iPhone 16e lacks support for Precision Finding.
- The iPhone 16e's maximum display brightness for standard content is 800 nits, compared to 1,000 nits for the standard iPhone 16.
- iPhone 16e is limited to Wi-Fi 6, whereas the standard iPhone 16 supports Wi-Fi 7.
- There is no physical SIM card slot in iPhone 16e units sold in the U.S., so you will need an eSIM there. The device still has a SIM card slot in other countries.
iPhone 16e pre-ordering begins this Friday at 5 a.m. Pacific Time in nearly 60 countries, and the device will launch on Friday, February 28.
