iPhone 16e Has a Hidden Change Coming to the iPhone 17 Pro This Year

Apple's new entry-level iPhone 16e is expected to have something in common with the higher-end iPhone 17 Pro coming later this year.

As revealed in a teardown video, the iPhone 16e battery uses a special type of adhesive that allows for the battery to be removed with low-voltage electrical current from a small power source, such as a 9V battery or a USB-C charger.

This change debuted last year on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, and it is rumored to extend to the iPhone 17 Pro models later this year. That means the entire iPhone 17 lineup should support this convenient battery removal process.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max batteries still have stretch-release adhesive pull tabs.

Apple introduced the iPhone 16e earlier this month, and the device launched today. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in September.
