Apple's Shazam App Gets Better Integration With Spotify and Apple Music

Apple today updated its Shazam app, improving the syncing feature for adding songs identified with Shazam to music apps like Apple Music and Spotify.

According to the release notes for the new 18.9 update, Shazam will include songs recognized with the Music Recognition feature on the iPhone and iPad to the dedicated My Shazam Tracks playlist that's available for Spotify and ‌Apple Music‌ users.

Prior to now, songs identified manually with the Shazam app were added to this list, but songs recognized using the built-in Control Center option were not included.

We've made syncing songs to Apple Music and Spotify better than ever! Shazam will now include songs found via Music Recognition in Control Centre, Siri, and Shortcuts to your "My Shazam Tracks" playlist in Apple Music or Spotify.

Simply toggle "Sync your songs" off and on in Shazam settings to re-sync all your previously discovered songs from the Shazam app. You may need to reopen Spotify to see the playlist refreshed

Don't forget to keep your Shazam History safe and in sync between your devices. To do this, turn on iCloud sync in Shazam Settings.

To update songs that are synced, Apple says that users should toggle "Sync your songs" off and on in the Shazam app settings, a move that will re-sync all previously discovered songs.

I actually use it with YouTube Music. They don't make it very clear, but when you've found a song result, the three dots menu has links to send directly to every music app detected on your phone. Actually worked well last time I tried it.
YouTube Music also has built-in music recognition, which has the benefit that it also works with humming or singing a melody you remember.

Didn't know that actually. But I tend to keep permissions of Google apps limited. I'd rather use the system access to the microphone than give it to Google. Probably being ridiculous. But you're not paranoid if they really are out to get you!
I hesitated a bit myself, but in the end they can’t realistically run it secretly in the background, and iOS visibly indicates microphone use by an app.

Great to see this finally. Was very convenient to use Shazam from control center but was sorely missing this capability. I had stopped using Shazam from control center. Will update and see.

Yes it does, I just tried it.

And thank goodness, this update is well overdue. Now I can actually integrate this with Shortcuts.
Glad it works for you, doesn't work for me though. I wish Apple would spend more time on making sure their software worked for everyone. It's not like there's any real variation in their devices that their software would need to account for with a feature like this.

Spotify syncing is completely broken for me. I connected my account a couple of years ago but only 2 songs somehow got added to the album.
Will it at least open Apple music from a song? Mine seems to have stopped that as of today. I hate Apple software quality
