Deals include both 14-inch and 16-inch models, and the biggest savings will be found on the latter group. The steepest discount is on the 16-inch MacBook Pro (M4 Max 48GB RAM/1TB), available for $3,549.00, down from $3,999.00. At $450 off this is a new all-time low price on the high-end model.

For the 14-inch models, you'll find up to $350 off these computers on Amazon this week. You can get the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro (16GB RAM/512GB) for $1,399.00, down from $1,599.00, which is just a few dollars higher when compared to the all-time low price on the computer.

A few hundred more in discounts and they'll get close to what they're worth. A "pro" machine with a mere 1tb ssd is just sad in 2025. My Alienware M18 can be outfitted with 20TB of blisteringly fast ssd storage.

Discounts on current models through resellers is an enigma. Who is taking the hit? Does Apple sell to Amazon at such low prices that Amazon can make a profit knocking $450 off a product that is selling for full price at an Apple store? Surely no one is losing money on current products. It does not add up. Apple is saying on one hand their products are worth full price and on the other hand they are a discount item not worth full price.
The MSRPs are wildly inflated

Just like with the M4 MacBook Air ('https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/new-m4-macbook-air-gets-50-launch-day-discounts-at-amazon-available-from-949.2452909/page-2?post=33796188#post-33796188'), almost every model is a bit less over at Micro Center (price in bold). Easy price match from Best Buy if you're looking to buy.

Never seen so many discounts on Apple hardware. They must be struggling to meet their sales targets.

Or, Apple is selling more through retailers now than it has relied on in the past, and the retailers are cutting prices to compete with each other.

See my previous post where Lenovo is bragging about a 45% price cut on one of their laptops.
Historically Apple products have been the same price wherever you purchased them. If they are selling through retailers at discount pricing that is a big change of policy.
