iPhone users in the San Francisco Bay Area have received an "Earthquake Detected Nearby" notification today following a preliminary 5.6-magnitude earthquake near Redwood Valley, California, which is around 100 miles north of San Francisco. The earthquake was detected at approximately 8:10 a.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday.
"If shaking intensifies: Drop, cover, hold on," reads the notification, issued by the United States Geological Survey (USGS)'s ShakeAlert system.
