Gurman: iOS 18 to Feature 'Updates' to Control Center

The upcoming iOS 18 update for the iPhone will include unspecified "updates" to Control Center, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

If that sounds familiar, it is because Control Center was rumored to be revamped on both iOS 15 and iOS 17, but neither update ended up introducing any significant changes to the feature, which provides quick access to system functions like Wi-Fi, display brightness, volume, and more. However, both of those rumors proved to be from unreliable sources for Apple leaks, whereas Gurman is a more reputable source.

MacRumors has learned that Apple has internally tested a redesigned Control Center for iOS 18, but we cannot confirm if these changes have been finalized.

Apple will unveil iOS 18 during its WWDC keynote on June 10, and the first beta should be made available to members of the Apple Developer Program immediately after the presentation. The first public beta of iOS 18 will likely follow in July, and the update should be widely released to all users with a compatible iPhone in September.

Is it really crying out for a re-design? It seems to do what it does well enough, is there some killer feature missing that it really should have? If they're not careful they'll add too many buttons to it and it will just become another Settings screen.
For me having the ability to hold down and rearrange buttons would be an improvement. You can even do this on the Watch but for some reason in iOS you have to go to Settings, reorder a list and guess where buttons will end up.

Also add a Settings button in there. I should be able to swipe down and go straight to Settings from anywhere, not go digging around the Home Screen.

I just wish it were more customizable. Back when you could jailbreak you could do some really amazing things with control center.

I just hope that "changes" equals improvements ... Apple has made enough changes for change sake.

PLEASE PLEASE add a toggle for "silence unknown callers". It's always so annoying to have to dig through several pages of settings to turn it off (and then remember to turn it back on) - when you're waiting for a call from say, your doctor's office.
