PocketPC Perspective from David MacNeill
Pen Computing writer and long-time Newton advocate David MacNeill writes this perspective of the new PocketPC at Go32.com.
"Although I have only used a late pre-production model, I can tell you that it is as close to perfect as any slate-type
(non-keyboard) handheld computer has ever been, including the much-beloved Newton MessagePad."
He goes on to comment about MS and the DOJ... and gives an interesting perspective on Apple:
"Given different circumstances, it could just as easily been Apple Computer who became the 800 pound gorilla of the computing landscape. I contend that Apple would have been just as aggressive as Microsoft in protecting and extending their hegemony. That is the nature of the personal computing software business. Anyone who tells you otherwise does not know how the world works. Steve Jobs is as big a jerk as Bill Gates."
