1200MHz G4 Mac!!

A user wrote in to inform us that Xtrem, Inc. has announced their in-development XtremMac 1200MHz -- what appears to be a Mac-clone of sorts (how're they gonna get away with that?) sporting an unbelievable industrial design and a 1200MHz G4 processor!!! Other specs include: 150MHz bus, 320MB/sec SCSI RAID controller, 15000 RPM Ultra160 SCSI drive, etc. The simple benchmark graphs on their site claim a 375% increase in 3D graphics performance over a PowerMac G4/500 (presumably w/ Rage 128 Pro)! This is incredible (and, at the moment, unavailable).

This seems almost as though it must be some sort of spoof or joke. There are so many issues here that would seem to have gotten in Xtreme's way in creating this unit. How did they get hold of a 1200MHz G4 (some hardcore Peltier action or other cryo-cooling to an insanely overclocked G4 500)? How would Apple let this thing fly? How can anyone afford such a unit (not that it's quite aimed at the general consumer)?

We're definitely dying for more info on this amazing unit with its green HAL-like "eye." Apparently detailed specs will be posted during "week 32, 2000"... Wow.

UPDATE: See full press release here...which claims it's expected to be "priced at below U.S. $80" -- typo or proof of a scam? Also -- apparently the unit uses Apple's G4 motherboard. Is that the cube motherboard? Perhaps a G4 tower mobo would fit in there...but there just doesn't seem room for any cards to fit as well (and you've gotta have a video board, at least), unless we're picturing this thing smaller than it is...
