Mac OS X 10.6.5 Addresses Display Issues on New MacBook Air
Earlier this month, we
reported on several issues related to the display on Apple's new MacBook Air, with flickering and fading upon waking from sleep being the most common symptoms. Just a few days later, it was
revealed that Apple support was aware of the issues and was planning on releasing a software update to address them.
Based on a new support document posted today, Mac OS X 10.6.5, which was released last week, does indeed include the fixes designed to address these video anomalies.
Symptoms
After waking from sleep, your MacBook Air display may flicker or fade from light to dark repeatedly.
Resolution
Download and apply the Mac OS X v10.6.5 update to resolve this issue.
We've yet to hear from MacBook Air users who had been experiencing the problem about whether the update has in fact cured their video issues, but Apple appears confident that it has indeed solved the problem.
