Sprint Confirms Plans to Offer Unlimited Data for iPhone

sprint logo
As noted by CNET's Roger Cheng, Phone Scoop, and AllThingsD, Sprint has confirmed that it will indeed be offering unlimited data for the iPhone when it launches on the carrier.

“We will be offering the benefit of our unlimited plans that start at just $69.99,” said spokeswoman Michelle Leff Mermelstein. Sprint’s $69.99 plan includes unlimited data and 450 voice minutes as well as unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling. Unlimited calling and data costs $99 a month.

The new iPhone 4S is scheduled to debut on Sprint, AT&T and Verizon in the United States on Friday, October 14th, with pre-orders beginning this Friday, October 7th. Sprint will also join AT&T and Verizon in offering the low-capacity 8 GB iPhone 4, with information on Apple's site listing Sprint's availability for that device as "coming soon".

Sprint has been surprisingly quiet since yesterday considering that it has reportedly committed to purchase billions of dollars' worth of iPhones from Apple, with no mention of the iPhone yet appearing on the carrier's website. AllThingsD notes that Sprint is in fact "very excited" to begin offering the iPhone, but is making sure all of its plans are in order before beginning its promotional blitz.

No text in this plan? What happened to the " true unlimited " carrier that always talks about giving all they can. Regardless I'm switching to them from AT&T but I thought it would be 69$ for unlimited data & SMS. Unless data in their eyes means web & SMS? Help anyone?

Their current 69.99 plan is called "Everything Data" and includes unlimited data, unlimited messaging, and 450 anytime minutes. So I'm assuming they're just going to offer the same plans for the iPhone that they do with other phones :)

Are we sure the MOBILE TO MOBILE is accross all phone networks and not just mobile to mobile on sprint?

Does anyone know this for sure?

From Sprint's website

Any Mobile, Anytime: Unlimited domestic calls from the Sprint network to and from ANY U.S. mobile phone regardless of carrier. Any network, any time.

Will Sprint allow unlimited tethering for a fee?

5gb tethering limit then throttled after that. Cost is $30 I believe.

Given the fact that they knew when the iPhone even was going to be, Sprint should have taken advantage of all the publicity from yesterday and have launched their promotions in the afternoon.

Looks like they dropped the ball on that one.

They spent all their money buying iPhones. Now they can't afford to update their website lol

I hope everyone realizes that this is a win win for all.

The more carriers, the more competition. The more competition, the better the price wars. The better the price wars, the cheaper all our bills become.

So I welcome the now network, and hope they make AT&T and Verizon look like the price fixers they are.

Now, let's just hope Sprint come out firing, and does not stick it to the users who come onboard.

According to someone i know who works at Sprint, and a friend who uses Sprint, you can talk and use your data at the same time. Even if I don't get an iPhone, I'll probably be getting Sprint. Just saying.

Simultaneous voice and data on sprint requires a 4G/WiMax-enabled device and connection. If you're on the 3G EV-DO network, you can only do one at a time...
