Passbook Enabled-Apps Start Arriving on App Store

by

NewImage
Passbook enabled apps have begun making their way to the App Store, with major corporations like Major League Baseball, Ticketmaster, Fandango and Lufthansa offering event and flight tickets via Passbook, and Walgreens offering access to its rewards program via the service.

The Next Web has details on how Passbook works:

The passes are issued by companies directly to customers via email or apps or any other avenue that they choose and are added to a user’s Passbook automatically. There is no app required for use besides Passbook itself, though companies can choose to include ‘pass update’ functionality in their apps for those that want to make changes after the fact.

The search engine on our sister-site AppShopper is keeping track of Passbook-enabled apps as they get released.

How can you not have Apple vouchers/coupons right off the bat.

Seems a big miss?

Another way to get passes without an app

You can create passes for your credit / debit cards by using BillGuard for Passbook http://passbook.billguard.com.
It'll show you your balance and you'll get alerts for suspicious charges on your card. You don't need to install another iPhone app for this.

Same here. I would have thought that it was a issue with the app or a hard coded link somewhere, but if some people have it working while others do not, it must be a server issue.
I found a fix, and it connects and updates.

Try this.

Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.
