Best Buy Announces Special Two-Day iPad Trade-In Program

by

BestbuyBest Buy will be accepting iPad trade-ins this Saturday and Sunday, according to AllThingsD.

The company is accepting 2nd or 3rd-generation iPads in exchange for gift cards starting at $200 -- though in some cases Best Buy is offering larger amounts. The trade-ins are only for Best Buy retail locations.

Best Buy said it decided to launch this promotion based on the success of its iPhone trade-in event last month. Though Best Buy wouldn’t disclose how many people participated in the program, the company said there was an “overwhelming response” and that its initial June 1 event was the single biggest day for its trade-in business.

No one bothers to READ anything any more...

$200 is what they'd give you for a good condition iPad 2 16GB Wifi only, FOR THIS WEEKEND ONLY. If you use their online trade-in calculator tool or go in the store ANY OTHER WEEKEND, then you will not get nearly that much for the same iPad. $200 is the MINIMUM you would get for trading in an iPad. Anything better than an iPad 2 16GB Wifi only and you will likely get much better than that $200, depending on condition. You're not going to only get $200 for your iPad 3 32GB Wifi model or for your iPad 2 64GB Wifi+3G model. Use some common sense and pay attention once in a while!:rolleyes:

Screw Best Buy. Don't put any money in their pockets. Either sell it on Gazelle or Nextworth, or directly to someone on Craigslist. Then buy a new iPad directly from Apple.

Not defending Best Buy but Gazelle is only offering 175$ for a 32gb iPad2. Seems like an even crappier deal.

They're taking trade ins to sell in a secondary market. It doesn't make sense for them to offer the same amount you could sell it for. They intend on selling it for a profit.
