Why oh why can't they just do an on-board/rear car game for iOS?! All their mobile attempts use this horrible top-down view and it makes the game so much less enjoyable :/

My first thought as well. Or even better a mac version of the F1 2013 they just came out with. Not that it matters I guess, the physics are pretty laughable in their games anyway.

Don't worry, his "new" KERS based traction control will help him get off the line ahead of you each time ;)

They can't go out & make a full-blown sim racer - because as they've said numerous times, over 90% of their customers use a controller, not a wheel. If you want that - take a look at iRacing or rFactor.

They try & find the middle ground between arcade & sim.

I've quite obviously never driven an F1 car before but from my experiences in F1 2013 with assists off, driving w/ a FFB wheel they've got it pretty much spot on. Enough challenge there to make sure you keep 4 wheels going in the right direction - but at the same time having that fun factor without being frustrating in the sense that when the rear end does snap out it is possible to kick it back into place without too much difficulty.
