Apple Confirms Sport Bands Include Three Pieces to Adjust Size

Sport Band Three PiecesApple has quietly updated the Apple Online Store to list that the Apple Watch Sport ships with one fluoroelastomer band that includes three pieces to make either a Small/Medium (S/M) or Medium/Large (M/L) strap.

The updated "what's in the box" section confirms a TechCrunch report from last week that, "with very good authority," claimed that the Apple Watch Sport would ship with a three-piece band.

It was initially believed that the Apple Watch Sport would ship with two separate bands for sizing purposes, leading to the creation of services such as BandSwapper that intended to allow customers to swap their unused bands for a different size or color. But Apple's unique three-piece approach to the Sport band eliminates the chance that customers will be able to swap out their unused band.

I doubt they were lying, they were just giving you the information they thought was correct.

I still don't understand what the three pieces are or how there could even be three pieces.

Think of it this way. People thought they were getting this:

====o----
=====o-----

Instead, however, you're getting this:

====o

----
-------

Note: apologies in advance for the slightly rude drawings! :P

The common sense conclusion. I hope they've passed the information on to their customer service staff who kept insisting the Watch came with two full bands.

Just got off of the phone with them, and their response was unbelievable. "There must have been some misunderstanding, we were saying there were 4parts in the packaging"..... When I told them that it was undeniably clear when I initially spoke with the representatives that I stated "so there are 4 watch band pieces in the box, 2 x's and 2 y's, 2 full and seperate watch bands" and that they could check the recorded conversations they recanted that there was a misunderstanding or miscommunication. Their idea of a resolution....... A gift gesture $25 in the Apple Store, but wait for it.....the $25 cannot be used for any Apple watch products, ie; a band, or any recently "launched" products. Just ridiculous!
You aren't owed a thing.

I thought this was confirmed last week? Wasn't this part of the story related to the band exchanging website?

It was "confirmed" in the MacRumors sense -- somebody said it, and someone else agreed. This is the first time the confirmation has come from Apple, on the record.
