Custom 1.3GHz Retina MacBooks Begin Shipping Out to Customers Early

With most of the past few days covered in Apple Watch shipping news, the build-to-order version of the new 12-inch MacBook has flown slightly under the radar. But, this morning, Apple began updating customers who opted-in for the 1.3GHz model of the notebook with shipping dates almost two weeks earlier than initially expected.

First given a vague 3-4 week shipping estimate by Apple, the 1.3GHz MacBook has now received a delivery estimate as early as the middle of next week for some customers in the United States. The build-to-order option took slightly longer to ship than the basic 1.1GHz and 1.2GHz models due to its custom upgrade processor parts.

Those two regular models of the notebook began shipping out to customers soon after its April 10 launch alongside the Apple Watch. Although many expected the new MacBook to be sold in Apple retail locations, the company opted to keep the 12-inch Retina device mostly to its online storefront for the time being.

People will still complain about the wait even thought BTO typically have a long waiting period at launch.

The whole thing has been crazy to watch. People never cease to amaze me.

You'd think these watches and laptops were vaccines for threats to humankind.

I'm gonna kickback, relax and I'm sure I'll receive my watch by the 8th of May as estimated.

My friend has one of these MacBooks on order, really looking forward to trying it. Think I'll be upgrading my 2011 MacBook Pro with either 2nd or 3rd Gen of these.

You clearly haven't been following this release. People who ordered stock config in Europe and elsewhere still haven't had their orders ship..

It's gorgeous, and it's probably a bit faster than my 7.5 year old iMac, but I'm looking to replace my iMac with something a lot faster, not a bit faster. Holding out for Skylake MBPs.

I agree completely! I was thinking of getting the Broadwell rMBP, but with Skylake just around the corner and not a solid update to 4k Output (I'm looking for 4k at 120Hz minimum, PREFERABLY with either HDMI 2.0 or Updated Mini Display Port) I can't justify to retire my Mid '07 iMac either1 It's been running like a champ!! I've only had to replace the Hard Drive and up the ram to the max of 6gb.

CHEERS to well build machines!! :D
