Apple CarPlay Just Got a Third AI Chatbot

Grok has just joined ChatGPT and Perplexity on Apple CarPlay, giving drivers who converse with AI chatbots a third option to choose from. Developed by Elon Musk's xAI (now SpaceXAI after the two companies were recently folded into each other), Grok's Voice mode tends to offer more quirky responses compared to the other chatbots, but the app's main CarPlay interface is very similar, thanks to ...

5-year trial of SiriusXM Travel Link and Traffic
5 year... trial? That's not a trial, that's ownership.

No, seriously, it's a damn good stereo. We just took delivery of a 2017 Charger with it. I would've guessed it was a Harmon/Kardon or Bose system had they not put Beats badging on the speaker grilles. It's the best audio system I have *ever* heard in a vehicle. Standard equipment is a 6-speaker system with a 276-watt amplifier - the Beats upgrade is 10 speakers, plus a sub, and the amp is bumped up to 552-watts.

On-topic: Nice to see FCA expanding CarPlay availability. I wish they'd comment on if it is in the new Alfa Romeo Giulia or not...
Doesn't surprise me. Dodge/Chrysler has had some great sound systems.

The Boston Acoustics in the previous Durango was quite good, as were most of the Infinity systems.

Lee Iacocca should NEVER have chosen Bob Eaton as his successor. Now all Chrysler is doing now is putting focus on SUV's. Eaton ruined Chrysler with the buyout in 1998.

Lipstick on a pig. FCA needs to get their **** together or they're going bankrupt in a few years.

We've seen zero improvements in quality since Fiat took over. They're still among the worst when it comes to reliability, build quality, and resale.

I wonder how many more years they plan on selling cars based on that ancient Mercedes-Benz platform (Charger, Challenger, 300, etc)

You are aware that Bose is usually considered subpar right...?

B&O, Burmester, B&W, Lexicon, Mark Levinson, Meridian and Naim are all superior automotive audio systems.

Powertrain quality HAS improved. The Pentastar is miles ahead of the old 3.5 V6 in power, efficiency, and reliability. They had a small issue in 2011 with cylinder heads, but it was promptly resolved.

Cabin quality is objectively the best it's been. Perfect? No. But for FCA's price bracket, not terrible, either.

I'm not saying FCA is perfect. But they're a metric f---ton better than what they USED to be back in the days of DaimlerChrysler and Cerberus.

Fiat -- yes, they've been problematic. But I'm not talking about the Fiat side of FCA, I'm talking about the Chrysler side of FCA.

In regards to Bose, I don't care if Bose is considered "subpar" by others. What matters is how you, the person buying the stereo, thinks about it. I quite enjoy Bose products.

As far as you riddling off other brands of stereos... you seem to have overlooked my comment of "best stereo that *I* have experienced." I'm not saying it's the best damn stereo in the world, I'm sure the optional Logic7 system is even better.

GM cars also have plenty of foreign input from Opel. Just look at the Opel Insignia and the Buick Regal (for example)
The Buick Regal is just a straight rebadge

Ford has taken a lot more influence from the European R&D teams and put it into the American products, largely thanks to the "One Ford" plan. The Fusion is identical to a Mondeo, the Fiesta is largely the same, the Focus is largely the same, etc.
Read up on Alan Mulally's One Ford plan. The idea was to combine R&D resources across the world.

Focus/Fiesta are the same. Mondeo is similar to Fusion (minus the hatchback.) Escape = Kuga etc
