Ultimate Ears Announces UE Boom 2 and MegaBoom Speakers in Limited Edition Colors

by

Logitech's Ultimate Ears has updated its popular UE Boom 2 and MegaBoom Bluetooth speakers line-up with a range of new limited edition colors and patterns.

Called Second Street, the new designs were created in conjunction with graffiti duo Bicicleta Sem Freio and will be available to order from the Ultimate Ears website beginning in June.

Ultimate Ears Second Street Collection
Ultimate Ears said the new-design Boom 2 will remain at the price of $199.99, with the MegaBoom refresh also remaining at its usual price of $299.99. Color and pattern availability may vary by country.

The Ultimate Ears iOS app includes a feature called Party Up that lets users connect more than 50 of the waterproof Bluetooth speakers at once. And thanks to Siri integration, pushing the Bluetooth button on the UE Boom 2 or the UE Megaboom activates Apple's virtual assistant, allowing users to request specific songs through Apple Music, place phone calls, and more.

To anybody who doesn't have one: these are the best portable Bluetooth speakers. Really.

I was heavily into the Squeezebox ecosystem then Logitech got bored one day and ditched it, or at least diluted it into the UE radio of nothingness. Call me petty (which it certainly is) but I have been boycotting their stuff since.
Same thing had happened to me with everything I've ever owned by them. They make garbage, have shills everywhere on all the forums lying to promote their junk, including most of the Amazon reviews. Evil company. Will never give those criminals another cent.

Both the Boom 2 and the Megaboom are rated for immersion in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. Unless you are taking it snorkeling with you that would seem to be plenty resistant.
Thanks for the information. I wasn't sure if there was any water resistance rating, as the article didn't indicate that.

I don't doubt what you're saying. But I would like to see maybe some sort type of dust/water resistance for portability near the pool or going to the beach. It seems like other portable speakers are starting incorporate that type of rating included. I think it just makes it more useful, for some.
Both the Boom 2 and the Megaboom are labeled "waterproof" and rated for immersion in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. Even the original Boom was water resistant and would hold up to water splashes and light rain even if it wouldn't stand up to a complete soaking. Unless you are taking it snorkeling with you that would seem to be plenty resistant.

"Limited Edition Colors" sounds like (get it? :p) one last attempt at getting rid of current inventory before releasing a new version... and I'm not paying $300 for something that has often been on sale for $200.
