Popular iOS Twitter Client Tweetbot 4 Gets First Discount of 2017, Dropping From $10 to $5

Tweetbot is one of the most popular third-party Twitter clients, and this week developer Tapbots has dropped the price of the latest version of the app -- Tweetbot 4 -- by 50 percent, from $9.99 to $4.99. The last time a similar price drop happened was December 2016, so the app had yet to see a discount throughout 2017.

It's not clear how long the discount will last, but given the length of previous sales (around 4-5 days), it should stick around until October 7-8.

The app lets you mute tweets by hashtags, users, sources, or keywords, includes an automatic night mode that turns on or off depending on the brightness of your iPhone's screen, and has basic Twitter features like direct messages and lists. Tweetbot 4 also retains Twitter's old reverse chronological timeline order, and doesn't surface cards that suggest Tweets you may have missed or that you might like.

Additionally today, Fry's has marked down BeatsX Earphones to a notable low of $94, in comparison to the traditional retail price of $150. You can purchase the earphones in Grey, Blue, White, and Black, and the discount will appear once the item is placed in your cart. This deal ends tomorrow, October 7.

Think of it, if nothing else, as a small price to pay to get rid of the ads.

I'll stick with Twitteriffic. I'd rather not pay 10$ every few years for a new version.

Disclaimer: I spent a LOT of money on Apps. Over $500+ over Android, iOS, Windows and Windows Phone.
I was skeptical about paying for the updates as well, but now I can't see how I'd ever go back. Especially with syncing my timelines between Mac/iOS, the insane list of mute filters I've accumulated, and the dark mode/iPhone brightness feature.

The one major thing I want from Tweetbot next is GIF support in replies and a better search function. When I want to find someone specific but don't know their handle, I usually have to jump over to Twitter's main app because it has better suggestions and makes that part easier imo.

Been using Tweetbot for years as well now. Initially moved because of the chronological timeline. Now I love how all clients (iPhone, iPad and Mac) keep the timeline in sync.

Genuinely curious as I haven't used the official app for a while - does it have the ability to keep the timeline chronological and free of ads? Timeline sync at all?
you can keep it chronological. no add free option

Ditto this. Search is the biggest reason I still use Twitter.app over Tweetbot. Especially auto-complete search. I find myself searching Twitter almost as much as Google.

At this point I mainly use Tweetbot on my iPad, for the streaming timeline. Perfect for a 2nd screen experience watching sports or a breaking news story. Even though Twitter has become more developer-friendly in recent years, there's still too many private APIs for 3rd party clients to maintain feature parity.
