Apple Now Selling 0.8m Thunderbolt 3 Cable for $39

by

Alongside the iMac Pro, Apple today updated its online store to add an Apple-branded 0.8m Thunderbolt 3 cable, which is the first Thunderbolt 3 cable Apple has offered that isn't manufactured by a third-party company.

The cable is priced at $39, which is more expensive than a similar Belkin Thunderbolt 3 cable also available from the Apple website for $29.95.

Apple's Thunderbolt 3 cable offers TB3 data transfer speeds up to 40Gb/s and USB 3.1 Gen 2 data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gb/s, along with DisplayPort video output (HBR3) and charging up to 100W.

Aside from a Thunderbolt logo located at either end of the cable, there is no branding. It is, however, designed in the same style as Apple's traditional USB-C and Lightning cables.

The Thunderbolt 3 cable is compatible with all USB-C Thunderbolt 3 Macs, including the latest iMac Pro, iMac, and MacBook Pro models.

I hope Apple makes a better quality Thunderbolt cable than they do a Lightning cable. Their Lightning cables are some of the flimsiest Lightning cables I’ve used.

Wonder why it took them so long, given the first TB3 macs came out in 2016

Caldigit makes the best TB3 cable right now, wonder how this compares to it
I believe Apple's cable is the longest 40Gbps, 10Gbps, 100w available (the trinity universal cable). Caldigit's 1m cable can't do USB3 10Gbps and it's $50. Apple's cable is slightly shorter, but it's cheaper and supports 10Gbps.

Ditto that. After experiencing the frail abomination called the Apple Lightening cable falling apart on more than one occasion- I personally wouldn't choose another Apple cable again.

Caldigit's 1m cable can't do USB3
Thats TB3 specs. You won't find any TB3 cables that are 1m and longer that can do USB 3.x speed
