I really wish Apple would do a laminated display on the 10.2 that’s the only thing holding me back from upgrading from my Air 2
If you can find a good deal on an Air 3 it’s worth it to buy it over the 7th gen iPad.

Sounds like a last gen iPad Pro 10.5 inch would be perfect for you. It has more RAM than the Air, 4 speaker array, the ProMotion display, and the A10X processor is more or less on par with the A12 in the Air. At this point they cost about the same or a little less if you can find one.
There are certified refurbed Ipad Pro 10.5 available from Apple right now going for $469. You've given me something to think about.

In the market for a new Ipad.
Stuck in between the Ipad Air 3 at $459 and the Pro 11 inch at $674.99...
The specs on the Air are fine for me (I'm not a Pro power user or whatever) but I mostly want the improved speaker setup from the Pro. I would mostly be using it for watching movies, notetaking at work/conferences, Garageband, and Procreate. Casual amateur music-making and sketching/drawing.
At the current prices, is the pro worth the extra $215. Any opinions?>?

You could look into getting a refurb 10.5 in iPad Pro, not the latest processor but still plenty fast and you get the speaker setup you want and pro motion display.
