Deals: Apple's 256GB Wi-Fi iPad Air Hits Low Price of $549 on Amazon ($100 Off)

Amazon today has a solid deal on Apple's latest iPad Air, discounting the 256GB Wi-Fi model to $549.00, down from $649.00. This $100 off sale is the lowest we've ever tracked for this version of the 10.5-inch iPad Air among the major Apple resellers online.

The discount is only available in Space Gray at this time, while other colors and versions of the iPad Air remain around original prices on Amazon. There is another sale on the 64GB cellular model, for $579.00, down from $629.00 ($50 off), but stock is limited.

Apple updated the iPad Air nearly one year ago in March 2019, with a new 10.5-inch display size, a Touch ID Home button, A12 Bionic processor, and support for the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. In the entire iPad family, the iPad Air sits between the low-cost 10.2-inch iPad and high-end iPad Pro.

My iPad Air 2 is aging, but I don’t know if I would replace it with a new Air. The regular iPad is a better value, and the Pros are more powerful and can be used for some things I’d use a laptop for.

I still have my iPad Air 2, and I’m amazed how efficient it still is. I only use it for ‘work purposes’ for simple emails/navigation/Basic media, but it hasn’t shown any signs of aging whatsoever. In my opinion, this is one of the best iPads Apple has made over the course of its lifespan, but if I upgrade, it probably would be to the ‘Pro’ model, mainly I want the smart keyboard attachment that I would also find beneficial for one in the field, plus a larger display makes a significant difference in viewing content.

The iPad is very useful for some tasks. Hopefully Apple won’t decide that we don’t need a laptop anymore.

My sample might be biased but most people I know that own an iPad either don’t use it at all or use it only for watching movies or browsing the web. Absolutely no reason not to buy the cheapest one.
I would not buy an a10 device new in 2020. That chip is from 2016, and it’s starting to show its age. And I say that as someone who still uses two iPhone 7s on a daily basis.

Considering the current MacBook Air was recently available for less than 900$, this is still incredibly overpriced.

This is also almost a year old now so it will probably be replaced soon (if they make another iPad Air).
