Apple Shares Trailer for Upcoming Apple TV+ Show 'Home Before Dark'

Apple today shared a trailer for "Home Before Dark," a new Apple TV+ series that's based on the story of child journalist Hilde Lysiak.

The show follows Hilde, a nine-year-old girl who moves back to the small town her father is from. While there, she uncovers a murder case everyone else in the town had tried to bury.

A mystery inspired by the reporting of a real nine-year-old journalist. When a young girl and her family move back to the small town her father left behind, her pursuit of the truth leads to the unearthing of a long-buried cold case.

In real life, Hilde Lysiak was the first to report on a murder in her town of Selinsgrove, which gave her paper, Orange Street News, national and international media attention.

"Home Before Dark" will be available on Friday, April 3 on ‌Apple TV‌+. ‌Apple TV‌+ is available for a $4.99 per month subscription for the whole family, though Apple offers a free year of service with the purchase of an iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod touch, or ‌Apple TV‌.

This looks like another dud from Apple. The trailer is full of cringe dialogue and seems to be making the show more about a 9 year old girl instead of being a good crime solving show where the most important character is the victim.
Columbo was the best crime solving show ever, and the most important character was the murderer and/or Columbo, never the victim.

We're enjoying this series.

It's also fascinating to read about the real Hilde Lysiak (https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a32023483/home-before-dark-apple-true-story-hilde-lysiak/), on which the story is based.
[SPOILER="Part of the plot that's real"]In the series, when Hilde is attacked with disparaging comments, she reads them out loud at school. We didn't find it believable that a 9-year-old would have the gumption to do that, but it's based on what Hilde really did, reading the negative comments she received from community members in a video that she posted on her news site. What a great way to stick it to the man!

Hopefully it doesn't include gratuitous use of the F word. The Morning Show was unwatchable with kids in the house. It seems that literally every sentence included the F word in that show.
