2019 Mac Pro Now Available Through Apple's Refurbished Store With Up to $4000 in Savings

Apple yesterday added the 2019 Mac Pro to its online store for refurbished products in the United States, offering customers the ability to save approximately 15 percent compared to equivalent brand-new models.

The cheapest currently available refurbished model is a base configuration upgraded from 32 GB to 48 GB of RAM. That model retails for $6,299 new, but is available refurbished for $5,349.

At the high end is a 16-core model with 192 GB of RAM, a pair of Radeon Pro Vega II Duo graphics cards, 8 TB of storage, and an Afterburner card, now available refurbished for $22,439. That's a savings of nearly $4,000 compared to a brand-new model.

All of Apple's refurbished products go through a rigorous refurbishment process before being offered for sale, which includes inspection, repairs, cleaning, and repackaging. Like new purchases, refurbished Macs come with a one-year warranty that can be extended with an AppleCare+ purchase.

That's STILL alot of coin man.
I've been a Mac user for ages and recently have been looking to switch to Windows if only for the reason that you can get a monster pc for the same cost as a loaded iMac.
Mac prices are insane and the software is nowhere near as bug free as it used to be.

Which, if true, why would you buy refurbished just to save a few bucks?
I was a Mac Genius from 2007-2014... it's a well known way to save 10-25% and still get the same 1 year limited warranty with the option of AppleCare. I've bought refurb Macs since 2005 (even more now that I don't have EPP discounts) and never had an issue with them.

Behind the Genius Bar in iRepair, refurb Macs have a different serial number structure but you'd never know they were refurbished or new when opening one.

For normal people and enthusiasts/hobbyists, I'd say yes. However, many of these Mac Pros are bought for commercial/industry/business purposes where they'll pay for themselves many times over, or they're a tiny portion of the project's budget.

If you're looking at the base model, you should really consider the factory refurbished iMac Pro for $3500, very similar performance, with quadruple the storage space and a better GPU, plus of course comes with a 27" 5K display.

In a couple of years you can update the GPU and storage in your Mac Pro for a lot less money than it would cost to do so with the iMac Pro (which would need to be replaced). And since intel’s processors aren’t getting any faster year after year, maybe it makes sense long term :-)
