Compared to other retailers, this is the best price currently available online for the 256GB MacBook Air, and it's the lowest price we've seen for the notebook. The 512GB version is also on sale at Adorama for $1,249.00, which represents savings of $50.

Apple refreshed the MacBook Air last month with 10th-generation Intel processors, an updated scissor-switch keyboard, and more. In terms of features, the notebook has a 13-inch Retina display, slim black bezels, a Force Touch trackpad, Thunderbolt 3 ports, and Touch ID.

Casual browsing? Occasional editing? The iPad is perfect for that and starts at $329, and doesn't have any overheating issues. And you can always get a Mac later, when the cooling is a bit more sorted (or more well understood), and the iPad will still be useful to have around. Just an idea.
She adamantly stated that she does not want an iPad. Real keyboard is a must. Local storage is a huge plus too since we'll be storing photos/videos somewhere.

For what it's worth, I have an Air 2 that's still going strong, so yes, I do understand the different value.

Just saw the different YouTube videos (mentioned here) on the new 2020 MacBook Air, its disgusting that Apple omitted an inexpensive heat pipe to properly cool the CPU.

I don’t know this mac has been burnt in youtube, I used to think it was a no brainer but when I found out the fan isn't connected to the processor, well I don’t think its well built. I know I know there is people who use computers for casual stuff but anyways the fas should always be connected to the heat pipe, if not why put a fan in the first place.

Hopping in to see if there is any purchasing advice/feedback for the overheating issue. Is it over-exaggerated? I'm looking to buy the Air for my wife. Most likely use is casual browsing, occasional photo/video editing for leisure, etc.
My wife just purchased a 2020 MBA from Best Buy last week as her 2012 MBP was on it's last leg. While I set it up for her, I didn't notice any overheating. She purchased it for work so she's mainly going to be using QuickBooks, MS Excel, MS Word, email and web browsing.

She hasn't mentioned any overheating since she got it last Thursday, but then again she wouldn't notice something like that. Especially when she works on laptop from our dining room table.

I would think that your wife would be okay as she's not going to be doing anything too intensive on the MBA. Depending on how much she edits her images, that may be a little more intensive, but I think she would be okay.
