What sort of condition do these Woot refurb Apple products tend to be? As good as refurbs from Apple's store, or something less than that? A $150 savings for a used, older, lower-spec'd model doesn't look like much of a deal, and if the condition and battery are less than perfect, it's not very appealing at all. And if you "qualify" for Apple's student discount, that brand-new 2020 model w/128GB is only $749.
I ordered a “refurbished” iPhone 6S from one of these Woot promotions MacRumors offered a couple months ago, and the phone has a couple of dents and scratches. One of the two screws at the bottom of the phone (by the Lightning port) was missing, and the battery capacity was 72%, despite the promised 85% minimum capacity.

Silver lining was that it was $90, and Apple is giving me $60 to trade it in for an SE2, so $30 for the amount I used it in two months (I really needed to upgrade my work phone from a flip phone, especially now that I’m working from home and communicating more via text) was kind of worth it.

Nevertheless, I’m never ordering from Woot again, and I really wish MacRumors would stop advertising these.

Agreed that there is an obvious difference looking at the two phones.

The confusion comes in discussions.
...and when someone goes to buy a case online that claims to fit the iPhone SE.

People will be fine. There's an obvious difference between iPhone SE (2016) and iPhone SE (2020) just by looking at it.

I think that it's going to be very confusing to many people that Apple decided to call their latest phone the iPhone SE instead of SE+ or SE2.
Do people have that problem when buying an iPad or Mac?

Apple doesn't name their computers iMac 7, iMac 8, or MacBook Air 2, MacBook Air 3

Apple stopped naming their iPads by number/version years ago.

Even with the discount, I guess I’d choose the 2020 model because of the 6GB of RAM and 128GB of base storage, if I had to buy an iPad Pro today.
Without question, a $150 discount isn't worth it for a used, 64 gb Pro with less ram.
