Ridleys brother Tony Scott of TG fame has been in the production/direction loop along with Ridley and nephew Jake for years now so all in the family is a huge Win for Apple even if you are nitpicking.
Tony Scott passed away in 2012, FWIW. Scott Free is basically Ridley and Jake. They are a good production company with a lot of hits under their belt -- I was just pointing out that Scott Free had nothing to do with "Alien" or "Top Gun".

I am nitpicking here, but Scott Free was formed in 1995 -- it had nothing to do with "Alien" (1979) or "Top Gun" (1986).

Some of us need to pump the brakes on our enthusiasm here. First, it seems some are confused about first look deal is. First look means Apple gets to look at and possibly acquire the rights to Scott's projects before others do. First look is not a guarantee of quality (I hate the way that term is used regarding this topic. What's quality?). Nor is it a guarantee of a successful project. Scott will no doubt have content on offer from multiple genres. Apple could choose the next Robin Hood (the Ridley Scott/Russell Crowe bomb) and pass over the next Gladiator (the Ridley Scott/Russell Crowe blockbuster)

Apple having first choice of projects is nice, but it's not as earth shattering as some seem to think. Hollywood is a fickle business. Having first choice simply means having the first chance to make a wrong decision.
Yes, but having first dibs at whatever Ridley Scott puts out is incredible nonetheless. I think Apple has shown that they are excellent judges of quality based on their limited output so far. Van Amburg and Erlicht, plus Plepler from HBO are doing incredible work for Apple.

Good. Maybe Apple can produce a proper sequel to Prometheus. Alien Covenant was terrible.
