Three Month Free Fitness+ Trial Not Working for Some Users

Prior to the launch of Apple Fitness+, Apple introduced a promotion that's meant to give all customers who purchased an Apple Watch Series 6, SE, or Series 3 a free three month free trial of Fitness+.

While that free three month trial is meant to activate automatically and be available when first signing up for Fitness+, it appears that the extended trial is not working for some people.

Based on complaints on the MacRumors forums, some customers who purchased a new Apple Watch in September are not seeing their extended trial as an available option. We can confirm that one MacRumors staff member is also not being presented with the three month trial even though he purchased a Series 6 following the new Apple Watch's September launch.

Customers who are affected are instead being offered a standard one month free trial instead of the full three month offering promised.

To get the free three month trial option, make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID on all of your devices. If the trial offer is not popping up, we recommend contacting Apple Support for further assistance as there appears to be no other solution at this time.

*fix*

not sure if this has been said but I found a fix. Unpair your Apple Watch, if you have cellular plan don’t remove.

Repair Apple Watch to phone and the 3 month shows. Enjoy :)

I’m in the Uk, purchased my SS series 6 in September on release date. I contacted apple support (I have apple care so have access to support 24/7) and they couldn’t fix it on the call. They said they would call me back tomorrow. Tried a few things on the call including deleting all my VPN apps and restarting both my phone and the watch repeatedly. Nothing helped so far.
I am surprised you weren’t asked to set up your phone and watch as new. Lol That is the typical Apple support response.

Thats not the case for me, all of my devices are logged in using the same Apple ID and I still don't get the 3 month trial
Same. I use one Apple ID for everything and I don't see the 3-month trial.

It looks like this is down to the age-old problem of having two Apple IDs.

Apple Fitness+ latches on to the Apple ID you use for iTunes and App Store purchases (if you open Fitness+ and tap your account on the top right, it will bring up your Media/Purchases Apple ID). However, it looks like the Fitness+ three month trial offer gets allocated to the iCloud account you're logged into on your Apple Watch. In my iPhone Settings app, if I log out of my old Gmail account under "Media and Purchases" and log in to my iCloud account, the three month trial appears in Fitness+.

This is no use, though, as the three month trial need sot be allocated to the account you use for Media and Purchases, not your iCloud account.
Its ridiculous that after 10 years they've provided no way to merge accounts.

When I bought my MacBook Air M1, i used AppleCard financing, which forced me to go through the store using my iCloud account which was tied to my AppleCard, vs all my other past purchases via my iTunes/AppStore Apple ID....

Things like this, dragging on for years with no resolution just really piss me off.
