I think twelvesouth's stuff is very expensive...

...but nothing makes me want to try this stand like looking at the selection of ugly and poorly designed ones on Amazon, many of which are 1/2 the price but 3x as terrible.

It would have been worth the price tag if it uses the smart connector to charge the iPad.

Cool well some people find a really major use for these as iPads make for nice kitchen companions but take up too much room and can get dirty. These mounts solve that problem.

The one in the OP is ultra overpriced but as a category of products these are extremely handy for many people
Agree on both points.

If you need something that just sits on your desk then I have heard pretty good things about this one.

If you need something that can mount to a cabinet like the one in the OP (which I do admit is a pretty cool for kitchen use when you want to save as much counter space as possible) then just wait a bit. Twelve South will inevitably put these things on sale.

Honestly don't see anything special about this one. Similar item on Amazon as cheap as $15. What justify for the $80 price?
Can you link to the similar $15 Amazon item? I could use one of these for my desk.

Nothing special about it. I could 3d print this.
Do it then, post the results on here for scrutiny.
