Amazon today has a pair of discounts on Apple's 2021 16-inch MacBook Pro, marking the first time since April that we've seen notable markdowns on the notebooks. Only the 16-inch models are being discounted on Amazon as of writing.

You can get the 10-Core M1 Pro, 512GB 16-inch MacBook Pro for $2,299.00, down from $2,499.00. Additionally, the 10-Core M1 Pro, 1TB 16-inch MacBook Pro is on sale for $2,499.00, down from $2,699.00. Both sales are available in Silver and Space Gray, and in stock now.

Apple introduced the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models in October 2021, equipped with mini-LED displays, more ports than the previous generation, up to 64GB memory, and more powerful Apple silicon chips, and the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. Both models have faced shortages throughout 2022, so we haven't been tracking as many deals on them, but we're now starting to see restocks happen across various retailers.

$200 off on the 16” is a good offer. But it does become slightly cheaper during some Amazon sales.

More 16" deals vs. 14"... Waiting for the 14" base deal but might have missed the boat.
They come and go. Just be patience. I got my 14" MBP M1 Pro 16GB/1TB from Best Buy on March 14th and paid $2250 + got a $50 Best Buy gift card. Amazon had the same deal at that time. I got it from Best Buy because they were also offering 24 months free interest financing, which is very rare with Apple products sold by Best Buy.

I bought mine at Costco for $1750USD+tax.

Unfortunately I'm not looking to spend the extra $1k to upgrade to an available 16" version. 14" Pro with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD is the sweet spot for my needs.
I know you said 1TB but the 14" M1 Pro 32GB/2TB is also in stock:

The shortage is pretty strange. Apple clearly overestimated the number of "Pro" machines they could sell with only 16GB of RAM.
I believe that Apple used their limited production capabilities to make more of the 16GB memory model thinking it was a better seller. Where as the opposite has turned out true.
