iOS 18 Rumor: Redesigned Control Center With Customizable Layout

Apple has tested a redesigned version of Control Center with a customizable layout for iOS 18, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. However, we have not confirmed if this change has been finalized for the update.

iOS 18 Control Center Feature Iridescent 1
The new Control Center would feature a drag-and-drop system that allows at least some of the controls to be reorganized directly on the interface, our sources said. Currently, only the smaller controls in the bottom half of Control Center for things like the flashlight and Low Power Mode can be rearranged or removed through the Settings app.

If this plan moves forward, it would represent the biggest redesign to Control Center since iOS 11 was released in 2017. On the iPhone X and newer, the menu can be opened by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen, providing controls for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, display brightness, volume, and many other system functions.

We'll find out if the redesigned Control Center is happening in just days from now, as Apple is set to unveil iOS 18 during its WWDC keynote on June 10. The first beta of iOS 18 will likely be made available to members of the Apple Developer Program immediately following the keynote, and the update should be widely released in September.

It only took 17 years
Apple users like to gaslight themselves and say "Apple is often late, but they take time to do things right." But so often we are talking about something simple like this, not building an intergalactic spaceship. It's like taking two decades to learn how to boil water. And history tells us Apple will still mess up the first few versions.

I imagine they might take some inspiration from the widgets and give it a dose of colour as well.

If they really wanted to change things up they should add it to the app card screen as a LH-swipe so you can access it with a thumb. Being at the top of the display is unergonomic and an accessibility nightmare, especially on the bigger phones. On the lock screen it would replace the camera swipe; there’s already a button for that

Kinda like this.

This would be a welcome change. The only foreseen issue will be with people who aren't tech savvy & screw up the layout of their Control Center. Like in macOS with the "Customizable Toolbar" section, there will probably be a way to revert to a default Control Center.
Agreed. I’m all for customizability but it definitely introduces another layer of complexity, and my parents will find a way to mess it up lol

Apple does a great job of walking that line though, unlike Android & Windows
