Will My iPhone Support iOS 19?

Apple won't unveil iOS 19 until June 2025 at the Worldwide Developers Conference, but that doesn't mean we don't have some idea of what to expect from the next-generation operating system update – including which iPhone models will be compatible with it.

iOS 19 Roundup Feature
According to a December report from French website iPhoneSoft.fr, citing a source from Apple, iOS 19 will be compatible with all iPhones that are able to run iOS 18. If that's the case, we can expect support for the following models:

  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14
  • iPhone 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12
  • iPhone 12 mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)

Note, this compatibility list does not mean that all iOS 19 features will work with the above models. We have already seen Apple Intelligence features added in iOS 18.1 that only work on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 devices.

If the report proves true, it will mark the second consecutive year that Apple has maintained support for all existing iPhone models with its major annual iOS update. iOS 18 is compatible with the same iPhone models as iOS 17.

After WWDC, iOS 19 will be released to developers for testing, followed by a public beta later in the summer.

The final version of iOS 19 is set to launch in September 2025 alongside new iPhone models, but not all planned features are expected to be available at launch.

Apple is likely to adopt a staggered rollout for iOS 19 features, similar to the approach used for the iOS 18 Apple Intelligence updates.
