To be fair, the $399 that the iPad mini 2 (first retina model) was introduced with in September 2013 are equivalent to $543 today.
The problem with inflation arguments is that wages haven’t increased in line so relatively these products are still more expensive as our buying power is reduced.

Probably overpriced at the time

We've also somehow let Apple convince us that technology should keep getting more expensive (it should not)

Probably overpriced at the time
If you take the mini 5 from March 2019 as a starting point, it actually comes out as almost exactly $499 today (and $495 at release). I don’t think the mini 5 was overpriced.
