Apple today released a new Vision Pro app for the iPhone, which is installed automatically for Vision Pro owners who upgrade to iOS 18.4 beta 2, the latest beta that also came out for developers this morning.

The app was announced two weeks ago, and it is designed to make it easier to find and download content to the Vision Pro when the headset is not in use.

There is a "My Vision Pro" section that has information like serial number and visionOS version, along with a user guide and tips for using the Vision Pro.

The app is straightforward and the main section is a "This Week" experience where you can scroll through different content options for the Vision Pro. There are dedicated sections for Apple Immersive content, new apps and games for the week, 3D movie suggestions, and feature highlights like the Mac Virtual Display. You can download apps and games to your Vision Pro using the app, plus add movies and TV shows to your watch list.

So is the app being forced onto your phone even if you don't have (and don't intend to buy/mortgage your house for) a Vision Pro?
Tell us you didn't read the article without telling us.

From the article: "...which is installed automatically for Vision Pro owners who upgrade to iOS 18.4 beta 2, the latest beta that also came out for developers this morning."

Sounds like that would be a no, it's not being forced onto your phone if you don't have an AVP.

1. This is BETA software so NO ONE is being forced to download anything.
2 The software will only download IF you have a Vision Pro headset paired to that particular iPhone - again NOT being forced on you in any way.
3. Again to be clear NO ONE is forcing you or anyone else to download or use this app, nor are you being forced to buy an Apple Vision Pro or any other product.
4 I would very much like to know where you can buy / mortgage a house for $3499, please tell us!

It's sort of strange to me that this wasn't part of the initial release...
AVP is stand alone. Software takes time. I believe its worth the wait.

It's interesting that in a way this makes the Vision Pro seem like a device that needs assistance from another device rather than a product that can easily stand alone.
I see it more as the ecosystem expanding. If I’m waiting at the doctor’s office it would be entertaining to check out new content available for Vision Pro, at least to me. From what I’ve read, this app is completely optional. The Vision Pro doesn’t need it at all.

Reading costs you 10 seconds. Asking this question took longer.
