Apple Releases tvOS 26.3

Apple today released tvOS 26.3, the third update to the tvOS operating system that came out last fall. tvOS 26.3 is available for the Apple TV 4K and the ‌Apple TV‌ HD, and it comes two months after Apple released tvOS 26.2.

tvOS 26 Feature

tvOS 26.3 can be downloaded using the Settings app on the ‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌. Open up Settings and go to System > Software Update to get the new software. ‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌ owners who have automatic software updates activated will be upgraded to tvOS 26.3 automatically.

The tvOS 26.3 update includes bug fixes and security improvements, with full release notes for tvOS available through Apple's tvOS support document.

I’m actually excited for this. I’ve been having to reboot mine almost daily because it freezes and lags.
That sounds like a hardware issue rather than a software fault. If you are using an older model with active cooling, try cleaning the intake and exhaust vents on the underside of the device.

I get a kick out of the “don’t buy” buyer’s guide link. The current gen is still a good product even if it’s a few years old.
The reason for the "don't buy" is because Apple never cuts its price no matter how old it is. Imagine forking out good money on it for years-old tech only for a newer one to come out a few weeks or months later for the same price.

This is the first thing I always check after updates.
Even if they ever allow it, I presume it would be on the newer/latest model…

Was it ever confirmed that it will support all the HD audio formats? Haven’t been able to find much info on it, including on this site for some reason (it came to the Mac but no mention of HD audio formats):

I wish they’d increase the bitrate for iTunes content too, Apple could absolutely kill UHD blu ray if they wanted to
