If only it was 12GB of RAM instead of 8GB. These machines will only have 1.5GB of RAM for applications after the OS chews up its 6.5 on boot. So like 3 tabs of Chrome and a Word doc.
People dog on 8GB of ram so much but honestly it's kinda ridiculous. My work laptop is an 8GB m1 Air and I usually have 20+ tabs open with no issues. It's not an absolute speed demon but it gets the job done.

8gb of ram in 2026, good luck to run macOS Tahoe and later !
I actually see this as a good thing - it means that Apple can't increase the RAM usage of their upcoming macOS's very much beyond their current usage in the next 5 years or they won't be able to support the Neo (I believe Apple has committed to providing software updates to new devices for a minimum of 5 years)

Said another way, the Neo's 8GB of RAM prevents Apple from bloating out macOS's resource consumption for years to come

I was wrong. I thought there was no way Apple could hit the $599 price point, but here it is. Looks good.
