X Rolls Out AI-Powered Custom Timelines for Premium Users

X, formerly Twitter, has announced it is launching a custom timelines feature that allows users to pin specific topics to their home tab in the X app for iOS.

The company says custom timelines are powered by Grok AI, which understands the social media platform's algorithm personalization so that timelines are tuned for individual users.

Paying users will see an Add+ button appear next to the Following tab, with support for over 75 topics, ranging from design to robotics to real estate. X says Grok's filters work even better for topics a user already engages with.

Early access to custom timelines is currently limited to Premium subscribers on iOS, with Android set to follow "soon."

Today, X is also rolling out a tool to snooze topics on the For You tab, allowing users to tune out politics- or sports-related posts, for example.

Just deleted my twitter, X, what ever the hell its called account a week ago, the last bit of Social Media i had. I kept it to get a read on peoples opinions on current events, diden't engage with it, dident leave likes or follows or what ever, and even just glancing at it was so overwhelmingy toxic and full of lies and nonsense, i was like "I dont need this in my life" and deactivated the account, which doesn't officially delete for 30 days.

Talk about a drug dealer mentality...."Oh hey you dont wana use our product, sure no problem, tell you what, dont come here despite the fact we design it to be addictive, for 30 days, if you can do that, we delete it".....

People, im telling you, your so much better off without social media but its hard to detox from it

Funny, really. Everyone refers to the "curated" stream of data that they are being fed as "the algorithm" but increasingly, with the introduction of AI, it's not algorithmic at all.

You're being fed machine-recommended data, and in many cases machine-recommended machine-generated data.
