Apple Ramps Up Testing of iOS 26.5.1 Update for iPhones
Apple has ramped up testing of iOS 26.5.1, according to the MacRumors visitor logs, which have been a reliable indicator of upcoming iOS versions.
Our logs show that the number of iPhones running a pre-release version of iOS 26.5.1 that visited our website reached a new high on Wednesday, suggesting that it is nearing release. We expect Apple to release the update by the end of next week.
iOS 26.5.1 should be a minor update that fixes bugs and/or security vulnerabilities.
Apple already seeded the first beta of iOS 26.6 to developers and public beta testers this week, but that update is not expected to be released until late June or July. No new features or changes of significance were discovered in the first beta, which is unsurprising given that Apple is now focused on the upcoming iOS 27 software cycle.
Apple will unveil iOS 27 during its WWDC 2026 keynote on Monday, June 8, with the key new feature expected to be a dedicated Siri app.
