The first developer beta of iOS 27 will likely be available immediately following the keynote, and a public beta typically follows in July. Following beta testing, the software update should be released to all users with a compatible iPhone in September.

Below, we outline 12 new features that are rumored to be coming with iOS 27:

As was the case with iOS 26, it is likely that anyone with an Apple Developer account will be able to install the iOS 27 developer beta for free, with Apple Developer Program membership for $99 per year no longer required. After registering, restart your iPhone and open the Settings app. Next, tap on General → Software Update → Beta Updates and select the iOS 27 Developer Beta once it is seeded later today.

To install a public beta, first sign up at beta.apple.com. After enrolling, restart your iPhone and open the Settings app. Next, tap on General → Software Update → Beta Updates and select the iOS 27 Public Beta once it is available.

iOS beta versions can have bugs and performance issues. Backing up your iPhone before installing beta software is highly recommended.

No way better battery life launches today. Expect some toasty phones.
I also expect some of the other features here to get announced for "the coming year."

Many many folks have been installing developer betas for years now. Other than a few annoying bugs here and there, they’ve been perfectly fine… there is no “pain and suffering”

I did it last year, and I was fine from the developer 1 all summer.

I really think Apple should tighten up on who gets access to the DEVELOPER beta.

Why do you care?
Also what exactly is your suggestion?
It used to be very difficult to get the Betas pre-iOS 10 or so.
You had to have a paid Developer account and your device had to be registered with Apple…
And yet people still installed it on their primary devices, Youtubers still posted videos going through it, it really wasn’t the deterrent you think it would have been.
Personally, I say the more people the better.

A first dev beta of a major revision will be “perfectly fine”? Couldn’t be further from the truth.
First betas break banking apps, have terrible battery life, and alarms not going off. Would you like me to continue with the list of all the bugs reported over the past few revisions?
All you mentioned are bugs. Nothing that will make your iPhone unusable. The person I responded to made it seem like so much suffering will befall those who install the beta. This is just hyperbole that is pushed every year by those who are tentative.
