So far for the Snow Leopard approach...
Why would a Snow Leopard approach stop the development of future releases?
macOS development did not end with Snow Leopard so why would iOS 27?

OS 27.4 is the purest version is OS 27 that Apple has ever developed. It truly is the OS for ultra pros. Apple can’t wait to see the incredible things customers are able to do with it. Apple thinks you’re gonna love it. Stay tuned!

But seriously, we can now see how far in advance Apple locks-in even their software. Apple has mastered the art of more evolutionary than revolutionary to keep the shine on the Apple fresh.

Interesting. Hopefully most of the bugs and issues will be sorted out by the initial release in September.

Of course.

This is always the way it goes in engineering. There are some people working on fixes to the current release, others working on stuff that will make the next release, and yet others working on stuff with a much longer timeline. It is management’s job to make sense of this chaos and assign people and target dates to different tasks. But you are always working on both some long-term and shorter-term projects. I’m sure some are working on "28" already.

Apple should skip revision numbers and call it iOS 30.

It will show that Apple is serious about iOS development /S :).
