Latest iOS 27 Beta Expands Siri AI Voice Customization

With the fifth beta of iOS 27, Apple has expanded the voice customization options for Siri AI.

Pace and Expressivity can now be adjusted for more of the available voice options instead of just the two American voices.

There are seven American voice options and four British voices to choose from, all of which can be customized with different Pace and Expressivity settings. Pace changes talking speed, while expressivity changes emphasis.

‌Siri‌ AI voice customization is done on-device, so the feature is limited to newer iPhones. You need an iPhone 17 Pro, ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ Max, or iPhone Air to use voice customization on an iPhone.

It's available on Macs with an M3 chip or newer and at least 12GB RAM, and the M4 iPad Pro and newer, also with at least 12GB RAM.

What does market size have to do with anything? I’m English, but I’d quite like a Scottish or Welsh Siri. Sometimes I have my Siri voice set to Irish (incidentally, there are about the same number of people in the Republic of Ireland as there are in Scotland - if Siri can be Irish, why can’t s/he be Scottish?). At the moment, I’m using the newest American voice.

Apple seems not to understand that a ‘British’ is not the same as ‘English’. If they’re going to have a selection of ‘British’ accents, I just think it would be cool to have accents from each nation - not just England.
About that tho

England matters

The rest of the uk is just tolerated 🤣🤣

I hate to break it to y'all but C-raig, Timmy and team delivered on Siri, however late.

I bought Pixel 10 to see how Gemini cuts against new Siri and color me unimpressed ... all the things are on the phone but new Siri delivers better (due to personal context and on-screen awareness) better than Gemini. All things seem tied up in iOS.

For a layman like me, that's great - so yea, for all the flak that we give to Timmy & Co for missing deadline, I am turning into promoter from a detractor.

It is a huge shame that these adjustments only work on a couple phones. It just doesn't make sense that we need "pro" models to change the dang voice. Siri voice choices suck, especially compared to the free options on Grok, Chat, etc. It just doesn't make sense in terms of real world usage that THIS is the feature denied to base 17 users.

I still contend that Apple might be setting themselves up for a class action on this feature. They made soooo many promises to consumers.

Don't forget the 1.5 million Italian speakers in Argentina!
OT - but visited Argentina in July and was shocked to learn that 65% of Argentines share Italian ancestry.
