Apple Says iPhone X is Now Obsolete

Apple today added the iPhone X to its public-facing obsolete products list, according to an updated support document on its website.

iPhone X 2022 Upload
When an iPhone becomes obsolete, it is no longer eligible for repairs or other hardware service at Apple Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers.

Apple considers a product to be obsolete once seven years have passed since it stopped distributing the product. Apple stopped selling the iPhone X in September 2018, but the device remained available at select resellers for longer.

Released in November 2017, the iPhone X was the first iPhone with an OLED display and Face ID. The lack of a Touch ID home button resulted in the device having a more edge-to-edge screen with a notch for the front camera and Face ID sensors. The device featured a premium design with a glass back and a stainless steel frame.

iOS 16 was the final major software version compatible with the iPhone X. Apple continues to release iOS 16 security updates for the device.

Apple also added the 2018 edition of the 15-inch MacBook Pro to the obsolete products list.

Obsolete my behind!
It is still working like a champ on my desk for apps! 🤣
To be fair, this is one of the designs that still looks modern and futuristic to this day. Probably the most significant redesign in the history of iPhone.

I'll never forget how offended I was by this iPhone. That stupid notch, Apple abandoning Touch ID, and no more home button. I bought the 8+ as a protest to the iPhone X. Now I have a 15 Pro Max, and I tolerate the Dynamic Island, I love FaceID, and I don't miss having a home button. Also, this article makes me feel old.

Honestly, I think Apple *generally* does a great job of supporting its hardware for years (with a few exceptions).
