AirPods Turn 10

Its' so cool to think 10 years of disposable earphones from Apple, the same company that refuses to give you a charger or earphones with your iPhone to save the landfills.

One of the best products they’ve launched recently. True wireless earbuds were barely a thing before Apple introduced them, and now I can barely wear corded earbuds.

I'll still maintain that dropping the headphone jack was one of the most user-unfriendly hardware decisions that Apple made, behind just making everything sealed appliance without room for post-purchase upgrades.

A universal jack whose supported hardware didn't really require active chips and could passively work on small current, that pretty much any manufacturer could make...replaced with (at the time) a proprietary port that required more microchips to support, a license fee for manufacturers OR wireless hardware that required their own li-on batteries? A shame. I still don't buy their stupid "waterproofing" argument because there are 3.5mm waterproof jacks on the market.

For me - my work - my routine - my lifestyle...AirPods have been amazing. I used to wear Bose noise canceling earbuds (with the big cord and battery pack) everywhere. I just adapted because it's what I wanted: great audio, noise cancellation for great audio and great phone calls.

AirPods Pro has changed that and it's a "must have" for me. Love them. The latest version is the best fitting and best version (to me) yet!

Only ten years? Feels like another lifetime ago when my Apple Watch Series 0 was under warranty and I got AirPods to use with it at the gym. Both were finicky, but I was a pioneer, haha.

And oh yeah, they never stayed in my ears until I got some third party covers for them which were fussy to put on and had to be removed to put them in the charging case. Good times.
