And dual batteries in the Duo mean that will cost even more.

Ironic considering the batteries are easier to replace than older models because of the electrically bonding adhesive.

Honestly they can raise it to whatever they want. From Feb 2027 in the EU, compatible 3rd party batteries should no longer be software-blocked or have features disabled just because Apple didnt install them. That changes the game quite a bit for future iPhones. If Apple wants $129+ for a battery swap and a local repair shop can do it properly for half that, guess where a lot of people will go lol. probbaly not the Apple Store.

i remember when you could order a „compatible 3rd party“ replacement battery on Amazon and swap your swollen battery in the first Unibody MBPs. in one of them i got a genuine replacement by Apple. while this lastet, in another i swapped 3 3rd party from different vendors, and in the end it was about the same cost. Apple genuine lasted 3 years at around 129 EUR, 3 x 40 EUR crap that was dead after 12 months, you do the math.
Lesson learned. You don’t save money in the long tooth. Never ever non genuine batteries.
