Apple's 2025 iPhone Air is the slimmest smartphone the company has launched, but the next generation of its ultra-thin iPhone could be even more compact, if a new alleged leak is to be believed.

According to the account "yeux1122" on the Korean Naver blog, Apple's iPhone Air 2 will be around 0.4mm thinner than the current model, despite having a higher-capacity battery.
The original iPhone Air is 5.6mm thick, therefore a 0.4mm reduction would put its successor at approximately 5.2mm – around 7 percent thinner.
If the leak is accurate, it would mean the iPhone Air 2 would match the thickness of the new iPhone Duo when unfolded.
As for battery, a previous rumor has claimed that the second-generation iPhone Air will feature a 3,500mAh battery. The existing model clocks at 3,149mAh, suggesting an 11 percent increase in raw capacity for next year's device.
How so?
It's true that a larger battery capacity usually implies either a physically larger battery or a denser one, but it doesn't necessarily mean a bigger phone. Apple may be able to improve internal packaging to fit a larger battery in the same chassis. Either way, it's going to be another tight squeeze.
Multiple prior rumors have suggested Apple is adding a second camera to the iPhone Air to address the main customer complaint about the device. The current model has a single rear Wide lens, which makes it less versatile compared to the more affordable iPhone 17 in terms of photography. Reports suggest Apple will add an Ultra Wide lens to the iPhone Air 2 to address this.
The iPhone Air 2 is expected to launch in the first half of 2027, alongside the regular iPhone 18 and the lower-cost iPhone 18e.
