New iPad Mini Could Cost More Than the iPad Air
Apple's upcoming OLED iPad mini could start at close to $799, which would be $300 above the current model's original $499 launch price. That's according to Bloomberg, citing sources indicating another considerable price hike will accompany the new model.
Apple raised the iPad mini 7's starting price to $599 in June. Bloomberg suggests its successor could add another $200 on top of that.
If so, that would put the new iPad mini $50 above the $749 11-inch iPad Air, which offers an M4 chip, a larger LCD display, and Magic Keyboard support.
The new iPad mini is expected to feature an A20 Pro chip, a redesigned speaker setup, a new landscape FaceTime, and water resistance. Bloomberg's sources indicate that Apple will unveil the new device on or around October 27.
The iPad Air is expected to adopt OLED technology early next year, so the upgrade might be worth waiting for, unless the portability of an iPad mini is more appealing to you.
