Here's the Fastest Way to Power Off Your iPhone

by

Ever fumbled with your iPhone's buttons trying to remember the right combination to power it off? Whether you have mobility challenges or just prefer simpler controls, Apple in iOS 18 includes a much-welcome solution in the form of a dedicated power button right in Control Center.

iOS 18 Control Center Guide 1

Using the New Power Button in Control Center

  1. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your iPhone screen to open Control Center.
  2. Press and hold the Power button in the top-right corner.
  3. Slide to power off when the shutdown screen appears.

The button requires a deliberate press-and-hold gesture to prevent accidental shutdowns. Once used, your iPhone will lock automatically, requiring Face ID or Touch ID authentication when you turn it back on.

While this new Control Center shortcut simplifies the process, you can still power off your iPhone using the physical buttons by simultaneously pressing either of the Volume buttons and the Side button until the power off slider appears.

The new Power button arrived as part of Apple's broader Control Center redesign in iOS 18, which introduced enhanced customization options and improved accessibility features across the interface.
